When the School was opened in 1823 there were no cars, and therefore no
buses, no trains and to the common person there was only your legs and occassional ride on a horse or more likely a horse drawn carriage.These coaches were infrequent and you had to walk to Glossop for one, that's if you had the money for the fare which not many did.
